LipSense Giveaway: 3 Uses for LipSense

Because I have awesome blog followers who aren’t following me on Facebook  or Instagram I wanted to share my fun LipSense Giveaway! And my newest discovery with the Espresso LipSense from the limited-edition Tuscany collection.

Well today I ran out of contacts and was forced to wear my glasses, so I needed something to really make my brows stand out and I am running low on my go-to ShadowSense in Bronze Shimmer, so I decided to give the Espresso LipSense a shot. And I LOVE it! Used it as my eyeliner, too and the 1st layer on my lips! Topped with a mystery color. If you can guess correctly what I used for the next 2 layers, you win a free color (your choice of the 2)! If there is a tie I’ll draw! Although, I don’t know if I’ll want to part with my Espresso, since I’m loving it for my eyes! ShadowSense is one of our more versatile products, but it’s pretty awesome that I can use my lip color that lasts up to 18+ hours on my eyes too.

Here are two color charts to help you out! I think you’ll be surprised which color is used to create this combination. Post your guesses in the comments below! I’ll choose a winner here, and on my social pages.

Best Colors & Makeup for Your Season

As a studio art minor (PR & Marketing major) and painter in my spare time, which is pretty non-existent with two toddlers, I’m all about color theory and finding what colors compliment your season and tone. Once you determine which of the four seasons you associate with, you can fill your closet and makeup drawer with products that make your features pop.

In order to determine your season, you first need to identify if you’re warm or cool. You can read a little more about that process in this previous blog entry, here. But the easiest way to quickly determine is to hold a piece of gold and silver jewelry to your face and you will instantly see whether warm (gold) or cool (silver) looks best. When you wear the correct tone, your best features pop.

Now, the fun part is to determine what season you are. Warms are either Springs or Autumns, and cools are either Summers or Winters. To determine which season, you simply must decide if your natural hair color is light or deep. Pretty foolproof; for instance, if your hair is blonde, light brown or strawberry blonde/light red you are a light. If your hair is brunette, dark red or black you are deep. I think that it is fate that I am an Autumn since that is my very favorite season, ever.

  • Cool and Deep – Winter
  • Cool and Light – Summer
  • Warm and Deep – Autumn
  • Warm and Light – Spring

The main dimension to get right with your make-up is the undertone; whether you need warm or cool colors because if you are wearing the wrong undertone you may look tired, unwell and less than your beautiful self. This is because you’re putting colors on your face that don’t resonate with, or complement your natural coloring; they fight against your coloring.

Below are some guides for each season and the corresponding shades of LipSense, ShadowSense and BlushSense that will look the best with your coloring to really accentuate your natural beauty!

SeneGence Makeup Routine: UPDATED

Still learning the in-and-outs of my Mac so this is most certainly not a great video by any means, but I have spent more time than I would like to admit on this, that I’m just going to throw this out into the interwebs regardless. So allow me to introduce to you to, “Part One” of my SeneGence Makeup Routine. The products used for my #basemakeup are: MakeSense Color Correcting Tinted Moisturizer (Medium); MakeSense Original Foundation (Beige Chiffon); MakeSense Foundation (Pearlizer); and the most versatile product (IMO) that SeneGence offers, ShadowSense, which can be used as a concealer, highlighter, brow definer/filler, eyeshadow and eyeliner.

Stay tuned for “Part Two” which will include a finalized eye look (mascara) and LipSense. Don’t know how I managed to delete that part of my routine, but I did. I know, I’m sure you’re just dying and waiting on the edge of your seats for this (please pick up on the sarcasm here) but I’ll post the rest of my “tutorial” another day. Can’t make any promises that the video quality will be better, but I can guarantee more sarcasm will be headed your way.

UPDATE: Still not super tech-savvy, but here is my newest video of the full routine 😉

12 Essential Beauty Products for Traveling

IMG_9654

Whoop, whoop! SeneGence recently had 3 out of the “12 Essential Beauty Products Every Woman Needs While Traveling” featured in the Huffington Post. You can read the full article here.

EyeLuminatorFirst up on the roster is our EyeLuminator, which provides your tired eyes with an instant revitalized look. This gem of a product retails at $55 and will last MONTHS. The EyeLuminator is an anti-aging and highlighting creme features a rich blend of SenePlex Complex, natural jojoba, avocado and sweet almond oils and vitamins A & E for protection to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and nourish the sensitive area around the eyes. According to the articles’ author, Miranda Allfrey, “I recommend it because it works like a charm on my droopy eyes. It is a staple in my purse for a quick revitalization. Secretly, you could get away with a swipe of the Luminator under each eye, mascara, and a great moisturizer if your makeup bag was inaccessible”. Side Note: I personally adore this product because it is versatile! Not only does it serve as my eye cream, I also use this to highlight my brows and create my own brow-kit (paired with our BrowSense) and as an eyeshadow base to create a soft and beautiful, yet moisturizing glisten for alluring eyes.

Climate ControlThe next featured product is the Climate Control. This is truly a miracle in a bottle, as it can serve many purposes of accelerated healing and cellular repair. Climate Control is hydration in the purest form. Made of the smallest molecular weight, this moisturizing spritz delivers pure SenePlex Complex, natural oils and beneficial ingredients for cellular repair to the skin at the deepest level. Allfrey states that ” I use it after every flight. It nourishes my face and makes me feel alive and ready to greet whoever is waiting at my destination”. This retails for $60 and it too lasts months and is worth every penny!

Of course an absolute essential for traveling is obviously LipSense, as the color will remain intact and on-point well after you have reached your destination. Of course I could go on and on about how wonderful this product is, but I’ll let you hear it from an unbiased third partyLipSense-Starter Kit, “I’ve tried various types and colors, and I’ve found a favorite that does not kiss off or come off mid-flight. An all natural product that lasts all day and night for that matter is the perfect pairing for a conference, long flight, or all-day tour. Whatever the occasion, you’ll find a color to match. My favorite three? Bombshell, Plumeria, and Sand Gloss. I use a makeup concierge who picked my lip colors for a recent photo. She matches my skin tone and highlighted hair color I am sporting in that moment to send me the perfect color”. Side Note: I LOVE color matching, so if you’re looking for a color suggestion, I would love to help you out. Shoot me an email with your pic, or a hand swipe of your fave shade and I will find the perfect color (or colors) to compliment you or replace that fave shade with a long-lasting one. If you are new to LipSense, you will want to purchase a LipSense Collection, which retails for $55 and includes a color of your choice, the Glossy gloss and an Oops!Remover. If you already have the gloss, you can keep on adding to your collection! There are many glosses that you can experiment with as well to change up your look. I promise if you try this you will become hooked. If not, then have I mentioned that there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee? Well there is! So it’s a win-win for you my friends!

And I’m sure I have shared this video with before, but the proof is in the pudding (that’s a saying, right?) here is why I’m obsessed with this amazeballs product!

ShadowSense The Ultimate Long-Lasting Eyeshadow

Summer is right around the corner ( whoop, whoop!) and that means lots of pool/lake/beach time. If you’re like me, I prefer to wear makeup as opposed to an au naturel state and I’m so thrilled that these ShadowSense long-lasting eyeshadows came into my life and beauty arsenal. They (just like LipSense) are waterproof, rub-proof, smudge and budge-proof! They are $22 each and very versatile. I’m using the color Onyx in this demo, which I use as my eyeliner because before it dries (which when it does, it is  ON there) it is so easy to blend and create a gorgeous natural look or a dramatic look, just depending on what look you’re trying to achieve. Lots of women use these gorge shades to highlight their brows, fill in their eyebrows and some will even layer them with their LipSense shades to create a truly unique color option. They can also be used as a blush too! I just love me some multi-use products and this is definitely something you will want to add to your daily makeup routine. You can purchase directly here.

Below are product fliers, and at the very end of this post are images (thanks to my fellow SeneSisters) of some of the beautiful shades on real life people.

If Your LipSense Isn’t Lasting

I’m fairly new to LipSense as I have only been a distributor for a little over 7 months (and a customer prior to joining), so I am constantly learning new and valuable information, almost daily! Of course all of you LipSense veterans know that there are several factors that play in the longevity of the color; the first is application. You’ll hear this time and time again, because application and technique are often the culprit if your LipSense colors aren’t lasting more than a few hours. Secondly, you’re probably aware that your body’s chemistry and pH levels play a factor in the colors’ lasting ability. This is why LipSense is advertised as lasting anywhere from 4-18+ hours.

But what you might not be aware of is that your chosen color could be playing a huge part in the lasting power. Each tube of color has a varied formulation and mixture of color pigments to arrive at a specific color. Some colors naturally last longer than others because of the different body chemistry of each wearer, but in addition, some colors are thicker or richer in color pigmentations, while others are sheer and thinner. I have personally noticed that Napa doesn’t last as long on me as Roseberry does. I just discovered why this is the case. The LipSense shades that are formulated with Mica, tend to not last as long as the matte finish LipSense shades. Micas create shine and shimmer. They reflect light and are made of particles that are larger than color pigments and may flick off the skin with regular skin movements, such as talking and scraping lip movements like drinking from a cup can facilitate this process. General rule of thumb according to our product knowledge guide, is that you can assume up to an hour of less wear when wearing a Mica color. I simply did not realize this (but, duh it makes perfect sense now)!

So if you are brand new to LipSense Long Lasting Lip Color, I suggest purchasing one of the Matte Colors (to help you choose I have made charts, posted below, of the cool and warm matte shades) first and then adding a Shimmer or Frost to your collection. To help add wear time to one of your Mica colors, try layering with a matte shade as your first layer, followed by your Mica shade as your second and third; but you would most likely have more success if you layered matte, mica, matte. Regardless, this is the most amazing long-lasting lip color on the market!

LipSense Application

I absolutely loathe making videos where I have to speak because I find my voice beyond annoying! However, I personally enjoy watching videos of my friends when they are either demonstrating products or showcasing their work. So for my sweet friends, family and customers who have purchased LipSense, here is my application video. It is most certainly not perfect, and yes, I do think my voice is slightly annoying; and yes I am also aware that I have a mouth like a horse. But if anything the takeaway is that you must apply 3 THIN layers (do not cake them on) in the same direction each time, after letting the prior coat dry!

Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics matte range sell out in 30 minutes – But LipSense Has Your Kylie Dupe Options

Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics matte collection sold out in just 30 minutes.

If you were hoping to get your hands on one of the Kylie Lip Kits, chances are you are still trying. I can’t speak for the longevity of the Kylie Lip Kits but since LipSense is the only lip color of its kind (it molecularly bonds to your skin to provide 4-18 hours of wear) I’m going to hedge my bets that it will outlast these matte shades.

Lots of lovely ladies (myself included) have been working on coming up Kylie Dupes. Here are some options, of course I LOVE the distributor who was able to get her hands on 3 of Kylie’s to do a side-by-side comparison. All of these dupes are paired with the LipSense Matte Gloss, which you can purchase here and the LipSense colors you may purchase here.

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

According to research released by Google , flowers are no longer the go-to gift for moms. Millennial moms are looking forward to a chance to rest, while moms ages 35 and up would love a meal with their family. Now, I know what my hubby is going to be getting me because I have dropped many subtle hints about needing a staycation sans my two rugrats sDownload-21o I can catch up on some R&R (Rest and RHOBH). I can’t promise that everyone will get the much needed rest they deserve, but I can promise some gifts that will help you fake it tell you make it! Up first on my must-have-list of gifts for mom is the MakeSense Pearlizer. This amazeballs product will help you create a gorgeous, dewey look making you appear radiant and well-rested (no one will ever be able to tell you got at best 4 hours of zzz’s). You can apply by itself, mix with a foundation of your choice or use it as a
highlighter for easy contouring. This “smart” makeup adapts to your skin’s pigmentation, and contains anti-aging protection from SenePlex Complex, which you can read more about it’s unique properties here. For $50 this is a great gift that any momma would love!

Up next for faking a well-rested look is Instantly Ageless by Jeunesse. This has been coin
ed “Botox in a Box” because in under 2 minutes you can see it instantly lift and removInstantly Agelesse puffy under-eye bags. It also smooths deep forehead wrinkles. Although, this is just a temporary effect (it lasts 4-8 hours after applying) it is still nothing short of amazing. It’s a little pricier at $75 (1 box of 50 sachets) but mom will definitely thank you for this tool to add to her beauty arsenal. Also, it’s a great gift for new moms who are basically operating on fumes. You can purchase here.

Of course a LipSense collection is always a great gift because who doesn’t love long-lastiParsian Duo.jpgng lip color? The collection is $55 and includes a lip color of your choice, a Glossy gloss and the Oops! Remover. If mom already has a gloss, then check out one of the gorgeous new Parisian shades Rose All Day & Violette (which is sold out but I have 3 for grabs, so email me if interested) for $25. If you still can’t narrow it down try one of the top 10 selling LipSense shades from 2015: 1) Sheer Berry; 2) Bombshell; 3) Praline Rose; 4) Blu Red;  5) Fire ‘N Ice;
6) Caramel Apple; 7) Pink Champagne; 8) Roseberry;  9) Fly Girl;  10)First Love

My newish favorite mascara is Moodstruck 3D Mascara from Screen Shot 2016-04-25 at 4.32.05 PM
Younique. I don’t sell this, but I purchase mine from here. It’s like painting on false lashes, amazing! It’s not waterproof, but it is pretty long-lasting. For $29 it’s a great buy!

If you are in the OKC metro area and you haven’t been to Radian, I highly suggest booking mom (or yourself) a relaxing facial or even better a spa-day. Check out their website and list of services here. This is the most posh and state-of-the-art medical spa in Oklahoma. The staff is incredible and their building is absolutely gorgeous, totally Pin-worty decor.

Beauty Secrets from The Dash Sisters’ Makeup Artist

I love when Elle shares great makeup tips from artists who are behind-the-scenes and responsible for creating looks to covet. Whether you like them or not (which I happen to love them) the Kardashian sisters have taken over Instagram with their beautiful faces and  Elle has shared their secret for these glamorous selfies, his name is Ariel Tejada. Read the full story on Elle.com, here.

He shares his top 9 tips for achieving “the perfect glow, impeccable skin, and, of course, bombshell lips”. Obviously this is right up my alley with SeneGence and LipSense. Here are his tips and my suggestions for achieving this with our incredible (let me reiterate this again, long-lasting) products that truly are nothing short of amazing.

  1. Illuminate Everything: “I love a good glow. Recently, that’s what I’ve been addicted to: making the skin look really fresh and glowy, yet still glam.” His tip is to use a liquid or cream highlighDownload-21ter on top of foundation but prior to finishing with powder. He suggested putting it on the high point of the cheeks, bridge of the nose and right at the center of the chin; blend, set and then apply powder. Ladies, let me introduce to your new BFF, MakeSense Pearlizer. It creates the perfect dewy glow. I was hesitant about using it at first because I didn’t want to appear oily. I’m so happy that I decided to give it a shot, because I now can’t live without it. I wear it daily and it is th
e only thing that keeps this tired momma looking alive and not like I should be cast on the Walking Dead. The Pearlizer can be used with any foundation, it doesn’t have to be used with our other MakeSense foundations (but they are amazing as well). You can purchase this must-have-tool for your beauty arsenal, here.

Eyeshadow can reshape your eyes: His signature eye look is achieved by using  natural, bronze-y, warm-brown eyeshadows. To make more of an almond shape darken the outer part of your eyes, and for a rounded doe-eyed look using a dark shade around your eye shape to round it ShadowSenseout. My top pick and go-to tools to achieve this look are the ShadowSense creme to powder eyeshadows from SeneGence. They are $22 each and versatile. I use mine to highlight my brows and as my eyeliner. They last all day af
ter they have set to powder and are water-proof and smudge-proof. Which is essential in the summer here is OK with 3 digit temps! My colors of choice are: Sandstone Pearl as the highlighter, Moca Java for the lid, and Smoked Topaz for accent and blending. I use Smoked Topaz for a day liner on days I’m trying to achieve a natural look, but I love to use Black Onyx as my eyeliner. It creates the perfect dramatic eye.

Here are the steps I take with these beautiful shades. Using Black Onyx as my eyeliner. This is such a popular color that it is currently on backorder, but will be coming back in stock soon!

3. Bombshell Lips: Tejada’s advice is to purchase a gloss because it livens up your look. He’s clearly a fan of Kylie’s line, which is sold out. But have no fear, we have played around with our color combos to come up with the perfect dupes for her shades. Here are some options that I have come up with utilizing our long-lasting colors.

IMG_7532

Kylie is known for the matte lip, so I topped all these combos with our matte gloss, but I’m with Tejada, I like a glossy look so I go for the Glossy Gloss most days. Purchase the colors here and the glosses, here.
