FAQs

LipSense Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How is LipSense unique? Aren’t there other long-lasting lip colors and lip stains?LipSense is not a lip stain. This unique product is waterproof and does not smear off, rub off, nor kiss off! The proprietary formulations and color pigments in LipSense help create a mechanical covering for the lips and molecularly bond to your skin.
  2. How long with the LipSense color last on my lips?
LipSense lip color will last anywhere from 4-18 hours. The length of time the color will last varies, depending on several factors including body chemistry and pH levels.
  3. How long can I expect my tube of LipSense to last, if I use it daily?
A tube of LipSense lip color will last 4-6 months.
  4. Why is LipSense not staying on my lips?
The color technology works a little differently on each user due to different pH factors. You may find some shades work better on your lips than others. Make sure you use only three THIN layers of color. If the color is layered on too thick, it may start to peel off. Also, make sure that you are reapplying your LipSense lip gloss throughout the day, especially before eating of drinking.
  5. I’ve been following all the directions and my LipSense is still not staying and peeling off. What am I doing wrong?
LipSense comes off when your lips exfoliate, which is usually every eight to ten hours or so. Because LipSense only adheres to your top layer of skin it comes off when your lips exfoliate and does not damage the underlying layers. The Gloss has Shea Butter that penetrates several layers down, actually making your lips healthier. The more moisturized your lips are the longer it will take your lips to exfoliate. Thus your LipSense will last longer if you keep your lips moist. Most women will find the color will last all day when reapplying the Gloss throughout the day.
  6. Can I use other glosses over my LipSense color?
We do not recommend this as our Gloss promotes the staying power of LipSense as well as properly moisturizing your lips.
  7. Why is it important to apply precisely 3 layers of LipSense?
It’s important to have 3 layers because the second layer which is sandwiched between the first and third is protected by the two outer layers and will provide the longest period of use.

The first layer touches the skin’s pH and will begin to break down first and fastest. The second layer is protected from the bottom, away from the skin’s pH, by the first layer. The third layer protects the second layer from the top down, and prevents sheering of second layer of color by keeping away friction, saliva and the natural environment.

  8. Why is there a tingling sensation when I apply my LipSense?
The first time you try LipSense it can tingle. This is because the lips are dry and not sufficiently moisturized. Those without dry lips do not notice this. The sensation will stop once you have finished the application and applied the moisturizing gloss. After you have used the Gloss for a day or two you will rarely ever experience the tingling again. Dry lips can be caused by repeated use of wax and paraffin based lipsticks, which, by their nature, can cause dry lip tissue. You can eliminate this by conditioning the lips for a few days and not using any wax based products. Once you use the LipSense and the Moisturizing Gloss on a regular basis the dry lips will be gone forever.
  9. Can I mix my LipSense colors?
Absolutely! This is one of the fun benefits of the three layer application process. You can use any of the colors to come up with various new shades to best suit you! Some colors lend themselves to applying well over others some of the most popular colors used for this are Pink Champagne,  Gold Champagne, and Blackberry.
